Before it was destroyed in 2005, the Kingston Inn was a favorite local gathering place for residents and visitors. Lines frequently went out the door, especially on prime rib nights. The September 20, 2005 fire, destroyed most of the structure, with the exception of two large kitchen vents that can be seen in the largest part of the remaining roof. After more than a decade as a vacant lot, the property was opened as the Port of Kingston Kiwanis Park in 2018.
